New Jersey
Well I made it. The Embassy granted me my Visa and, although I have to go back to Britain in February to effectively change my status from waived to F1, I am here.
I've been in NJ for a month on Sunday. Basically, I've just been taking my time, getting familiar with the area, involved with a couple of local things going on, and relaxing. Luckily for me, my stepmother gave me Civilization 4 for Christmas, so I've been busy with that. Also, effective Tuesday, I join the local pool league.
Life is...completely different to how it was a month ago. Not in a bad way, not at all. I've had a lot more time to reflect, which - for someone with my mental history - is not always a good thing. I hit a downward spiral a couple of weeks ago. My girl understood, fortunately, that it was not about her at all. It's the change of pace. It's the fact that I've been working non-stop for years, and - just like that - have jacked it all in, and moved to the other side of the world. It's fantastic, waking up in her arms each morning, but it's tough too. I'm not homesick - the US has always felt like home to me - it's just the lack of things to do with my time, seeing as we only have one car in the family here, and she needs it for work.
But it's all good. In two months, I start school. So, I'm trying to just use this time for what it is - nice and relaxing, and completely lacking in pressure. I'm just...not so good at functioning under these conditions!

The Updatathon
Well...I've been reading lots of blogs online recently, and they all seem to follow the same format, being of the same domain...this one. So I thought I'd swing by and check it out. Turns out it needs a serious update! So here goes...
I am still LisaMoose. I still work for a large international company, but I am now involved in all areas of statistical and management information, for household names such as British Gas and Reader's Digest. This is a big change for me, and it's so much more enjoyable than I ever found the training aspect. What can I say, I'm a geek at heart. I currently live in Leicester (that's in the UK, y'all). All of this is about to change, as I take my fledgling steps out into the big, wide world...
I am moving. I have decided that America beckons, and for those of you who noticed I was studying towards my BSc, I have decided to complete that in the fair state of NJ. So...all being well, in a month or two, the only fact that will be correct from the above paragraph will be my name.
I am also no longer single. I have met the love of my life and couldn't be happier.
So life is changing. Big time. Embassy in 8 days, where they will tell me if I qualify for the Visa and if they want me in the US. So keep your fingers crossed!

I am LisaMoose. I work for a large international company, co-ordinating training for household names such as British Gas and Reader's Digest. It's fun for the most part, and I am one of the few who enjoys their job. I currently live in Leicester (that's in the UK, y'all) and am studying towards my BSc in Computing at DeMontfort University. I'm currently in my third year but, as it's a part time course, I will unlikely be qualified until sometime in 2008. Gah.
I am newly single after nearly a year of trying to get single. I live alone in my swanky pad, which I'm paying for through the nose but it's worth it.
I like computers - Visual Basic in particular. I like reading - Jeffrey Deaver and suchlike. I'm heavily into music - anything goes (apart from extremes - I'm mostly not a fan then).
Mostly I am just playing now. I want to see if this is something I can do.
